Govee Holiday Lights Pricing
In terms of pricing, Govee’s DIY kits start at CAD 270 for a 100-foot system, CAD 400 for a 150-foot system, and CAD 600 for a 200-foot system. While at first glance, Govee’s pricing appears competitive, especially in the Canadian market, a closer analysis reveals a higher cost per fixture, exceeding $2 per LED. The cost efficiency is primarily due to the installation method—Govee’s lights are installed as naked wire without a track (unlike Gemstone) or a J-channel (unlike Shaw LEDs), which potentially lowers the overall system price but raises the cost per fixture.
The prices for kits in Canadian Dollars for 100’/150’/200′ are: $270/400/600
Govee Permanent Lights installation.
One of the main features highlighted by Govee is the ease of installation. The kits come with VHB glue and clips, which are used to install each permanent light, with an estimated installation time of 8 seconds per light. The installation process requires splicing through waterproof joints every 16.4ft and affixing them on the eaves. However, it’s worth noting that the lights are not designed to be cut, and the visible wire might not match the house color. The wire is exposed, which could lead to potential physical damage, although extensions can be purchased separately for longer lengths.

Govee Permanent Lights Weather resistance.
An additional aspect to consider is the working temperature range of Govee Outdoor LEDs, which is -20°C to 60°C. This range may not be suitable for the extreme cold temperatures experienced during Canadian winters, potentially affecting the performance and longevity of the lights. This temperature limitation could be a notable concern when considering Govee DIY lighting kits for use in colder climates like Canada.
Right Light budget solution.
For individuals seeking the most cost-effective solution and are willing to tolerate visible wires with a potential for physical damage, we can provide a similar option at the same price point. However, it’s important to note that none of our affiliated installers work with these sets. This is partly because it’s challenging to offer a warranty for fixtures that are adhered with tape outdoors, especially given the harsh Canadian weather conditions.

For our kits, you can use the naked wire installation or in-track installation.
Open wire installation is shown in the picture and outlined below:
1. place install the string lights 1.9-3.94 inches away from the wall surface
2. Clean the surface with a cloth or tissue before installing the string lights
3. Tear of the VHB gun on the back of the light
4. Press the light firmly against the surface for more than 5 seconds
5. Attach 4 screw clips to each string light to keep them secure
6. Connect 2 strings of lights via the waterproof connectors and screw in the cap
These LEDs can also be accommodated within an aluminum track, although this method renders the system more costly compared to our two-component track DIY kits, which we believe are better in terms of quality, reliability, and appearance. Therefore, we recommend examining the two-component track option before proceeding with this alternative.
